I am a professional writer and social media aficionado. As a blogger, columnist, interviewer, researcher, and technical writer, I have worked in various trades, and collaborated with a diverse group of subject matter experts along the way. Higher education degrees in (BA &/MA) in Criminal Justice, graduate certifications in Education and Technical Writing, an RN Nursing curriculum and PhD. studies on the Emphasis of integrating Technology and Learning in Psychology.
I grew up in Columbia, Louisiana in the same house, where my parents still live today. I began my life there literally, stumbling every day of the way. Fitted for full-length leg braces at the age of one, I would wear them until the age of four, and other appliances until age six. At the age of 26, circumstances returned requiring surgery and an irreversible neurological injury resulted. Since then, I have continued to follow my passion with a sense of humor, chasing sobriety with purpose, “I took the road less traveled “~Robert Frost, and I’ve learned many things along the way.
I’ve learned the day is scarier than the night. I’ve learned unconditional love is never stronger than in the very young, and in the very old. I’ve learned no matter what emotion a person is experiencing, a cuddly puppy can make you re-evaluate. I’ve learned the only certainty in life, is death. I’ve learned the most experienced emotions are forgiveness, grief and hope, and I’ve learned that patience is the most taught virtue.
In my free time, I enjoy cycling, golfing, reading, swimming, and practicing yoga. It is no wonder I yearn for the moments at the edge of the sand, with the ocean waves kissing my toes, or chasing my footprints away; or riding my bike through the park under the trees full of multi-colored leaves in the fall. I find myself overwhelmed by the fleeting moments of nature, such as falling raindrops and snowflakes.
I have spent the last five years researching ways to perfect the art of blogging, authoring, teaching, and parenting. Both demanding and rewarding, the push to transition from columnist, to blogger, to feature writer of articles and presentations, and now, working towards authoring all seemed relatively familiar. While teaching is my primary concern, I have begun to find time to collaborate with others about health and fitness, beauty and fashion, and I have expanded my blog to include them. I will continue to build faith for Faith Filled Family Magazine for their blog, my blog, and their magazine. Music and film, as part of Voltron Entertainment’s media and publicity writing team, is also included. I am writing my first book, and focusing on what comes; learning what comes next. There’s always, more to learn. Willa Cather once said, “There are some things you learn best in calm, some in storm.” I shall continue forward facing the storm, or the calm before it, continuing on with whatever comes my way, with pen and paper in hand.
